You know, there's still good music out there,

Hi everybody! Well, it was kind of a bittersweet moment here because Capital Music in Galesburg is closing. Although I didn't go there too much when I went to college, I know I stopped there at least once a week during the summer. They had a lot of music for people like me who don't like the music on the radio. You see, I found out this news when I was in the need of some new music, which is even more damaging because then that means the only music distributors are the big stores in galesburg (Wal-Mart, Target, KMart). Well, unfortunately, if you don't like Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, NKOTBSB, or any other manufactured pop idol then you won't find any music worth listening to. Thankfully, when I went into Capital for the last time every used cd/dvd was 1$. That's right, ONE dollar! So, I went on this music binge... I never went on this before! I got sixty cds all in all... I got everything from metal to jazz to even a little hip-hop. It feels great to know I have days of music I haven't listened to yet :).

But you see, What I really wanted to rant about was the main thing I learned while shopping at Capital. In the used section, there was always good music, but you had to sift through all the crap. This is becoming more true every time I look for good music. Even in the rock & "metal" genre, the radio stations and magazines try to cram shitty metal down your ears and, well, originally that's not what metal was about. Now, you have to know what kind of music you like, from the mood to the geography of the band. People need to do this! I'm tired of people saying they listen to metal and their favorite metal bands are Disturbed, SOAD, and Slipknot... That would've been a good list... in 2000! Thankfully, there are bands that are still holding it down. Bands like Armored Saint, Testament, and The Dogma (which a new band that I found). If you like your metaldrink a little harder, than I definitely suggest the latest album from Dimmu Borgir called Abrahadabra. It's awesome!!

Well, that's enough ranting out of me. Hopefully, I can rant enough so I don't have to feel like I'm wearing a Forever Alone face.

See ya'll later!

Joey
